Investigations To Identify Sliema Mayor Aggressor Are Still Ongoing, Police Say
Investigations to identify the alleged aggressor who hurled a bottle at Sliema’s mayor is still ongoing, police have confirmed.
This comes following the attack on Sliema Mayor John Pillow which occurred last week after he attempted to stop public urinators from relieving themselves in public.
“Investigations to identify the alleged aggressor are still ongoing,” a spokesperson for the Police told Lovin Malta.
“Kindly note that although the victim filed a report on Friday 10th June, as soon as the Police became aware of the case, a few minutes after the aggression took place officers went immediately on-site and began a search for the alleged aggressor,” they said.
“The victim was assisted on-site and was later certified as suffering from slight injuries after receiving treatment at a Health Centre,” they continued.
The assault came after the mayor intervened when he saw a group of foreigners publicly urinating on the beach at Qui-Si-Sana.
As detailed by the mayor, he decided to call out the women that were urinating on the beach, however, this was met by resistance.
The group of foreigners began to throw strings of profanity at the mayor as seen in the video, also being called a ‘pervert’ and a ‘paedophile’ in the process.
