Is Minister Anton Refalo Set To Resign Tomorrow? Jason Azzopardi And Mark Camilleri Drop Strong Hints

Social media is awash with rumours that Agriculture Minister Anton Refalo is going to resign tomorrow following criminal charges for misappropriation of cultural heritage being silently filed against him.
Independent Candidate Arnold Cassola posed the question on social media. “Breaking. Anton Refalo to resign Thursday?”
This prompted an answer from former Nationalist MP Jason Azzopardi saying that the resignation was due to his revelations that criminal charges have been brought out against Refalo for misappropriation of cultural heritage.
“I have been informed that yesterday, after I revealed that accusations were brought against Refalo, to be arraigned in court on charges related to theft of cultural artefacts, accusations that the government wanted to keep hidden (the order to prosecute from the AG was issued more than three months ago), he is expected to resign from his Ministerial post.”
“Yes, he is still presumed innocent according to the law, but I shouldn’t have been the one to reveal that the Minister was to be arraigned.”
“It should have been the police (I believe they have a media office) or the government who informed us and he should have been the one that informed us that he was going to resign (at least till the case against him is concluded).”
Refalo got into hot water when a protected 19th-century heritage item was spotted in the courtyard of his property in Qala.
A photograph on social media showed a stone marker with VR initials (Victoria Regina) placed in front of the pool on his property.
Meanwhile Author and renegade Labour insider Mark Camilleri also had something to say. He suggests that after Prime Minister Robert Abela was informed by the AG of Refalo’s imminent arraignment he decided to announce his resignation by the end of the week.
“Robert Abela is also attempting to use Anton Refalo’s arraignment in court as an excuse for a cabinet reshuffle to regain control over his cabinet.”
