A true hero – the man who saved a person from a sinking car just spoke out about the experience.

”All I was thinking was that someone’s in risk of losing their life, to be honest. I kept thinking ‘someone needs help,’ and no one’s giving it,” said Jeanluka Rizzo to Newsbook during his interview.

Last Friday, Rizzo and his colleague were fishing in Gozo, when he started to hear frenzied shouting from bystanders. The two then turned around and saw that a motorist had ended up in the sea, whilst trapped in his car.

Rizzo did not see how the incident happened – but definitely heard the commotion that followed.

When he realised that no one was helping out, he dove head first into the water, without any thought for his personal safety.

By the time he got to the vehicle, the motorist had managed to get out of his car – so Rizzo pulled him back to shore. Together, they waited for the ambulance to come pick the victim up.

In the interview with Newsbook, Rizzo expressed how the man remained conscious, but was in total shock. He did his best to keep talking to him and giving him company until the medical team got to the scene.

”Someday, it might be – it could have been me,” Rizzo concluded.
