Jeremy Cardona and Joslyn Saliba may seem like a regular couple at first glance, but there’s something rather unique about them.

Both of them are contesting the local council elections next month, but for two rival parties – Jeremy as a PN candidate for the Gżira local council and Joslyn as a PL candidate for the Żejtun local council.

While Jeremy, 30, is already a Gżira councillor, Joslyn, 21, will be contesting for the first time next month.

And in a cute sign of affection, the couple accompanied each other to the Naxxar counting hall to submit their nominations last week, each donning chequered shirts with their respective parties’ colours.

“We want to set an example of how not to let politics get in the way of love,” Jeremy told Lovin Malta.
