Labour Party To Discuss Rosianne Cutajar’s Future Tonight As Resignation Pressure Builds
Labour Party’s executive branch will discuss the political future of MP Rosianne Cutajar this evening after scandalous leaked chats with Daphne Caruana Galizia murder suspect Yorgen Fenech sparked public calls for her resignation.
Tonight’s discussion follows a parliamentary meeting last week in which Cutajar was present.
Rumours circulating say that Cutajar may be forced to step down following the damning chats with murder suspect Yorgen Fenech published by ex-Book Council Chairman, Mark Camilleri.
It is not yet known if Prime Minister Robert Abela has asked her to stop down; however, he recently stated publicly that “nobody is greater than the country”.
Any MP can be expelled from the party, which is what happened in 2020 with former Health and Energy Minister Konrad Mizzi, who is connected to a slew of questionable deals.
Mizzi was kicked out of the parliamentary group after he defied party leader, Robert Abela, who asked him to resign.
All Labour MPs have supposedly been summoned to attend this evening’s meeting.
Within these leaked chats, many intimate details were revealed. The chats date from June to September 2019, a few months before Fenech was arrested and charged with the journalist’s murder.
Cutajar, who was recently revealed to be pregnant, stated that she is considering taking action against Camilleri for breaching her rights to private life.
Do you think Rosianne Cutajar should resign?
