Malta’s speed cameras have been super busy as of late, churning out 73,000 speeding tickets in 2016 alone – that’s 200 tickets per day, every day, for the entire year.

Of those 73,000 fines, an entire 13,127 of them were given out by that infamous 50 kilometres per hour speed camera in Nutar ?arb Street in Attard, making it one of the most effective speed cameras on the island.

New data published by the National Statistics Office today revealed that wardens are giving less tickets than ever before, with warden-issued tickets down by 4.1 per cent. Tickets issued by the police increased by two per cent.

The majority of tickets were issued in the Northern Harbour district, with St. Paul’s Bay enjoying the most contraventions issued by police – an entire 5,573 for the locality alone – while Sliema registered the most fines issued by wardens.
