Balcony In Balluta Collapses As Pedestrians And Drivers Passed By Underneath
A balcony on Triq il-Kulle??, Sliema, that was being worked on collapsed suddenly earlier today, leaving several pedestrians and one lucky driver in shock.
The entire vertical structure that workers were using to work on the balcony also collapsed, causing debris to cover the street and surrounding area, as well as letting out a loud noise upon collapse.
“After it fell, two workers came out laughing, and began directing people to continue on their way as they began to clean up the debris. The photo I took was about five minutes after the collapse, when a considerable amount of debris was already collected and was taken in immediately,” he said.
“No one was hurt, but a woman in a yellow car that was driving underneath it when it fell was left in shock and pulled to the side to catch her breath,” one witness who was on site told Lovin Malta. “But the workers just motioned for her to pass by and continue.”
The loud sound made by the falling structure led many neighbours to come and make sure all was well.
