Cyclist Killed In Car Accident Near New Kappara Flyover

A cyclist that was hit by a car while cycling on Regional Road towards Msida this morning has died from his injuries, police have reported. The 53-year-old Serbian cyclist from Victoria, Gozo, was taken to Mater Dei hospital for treatment after being struck by the car, but passed away soon after.

The cyclist had been run into by a Toyota Vitz which was being driven by a 35-year-old Libyan from Msida at around 5:45am this morning. The incident occurred near the where the niche dedicated to Our Lady was situated.

Two lanes have been closed off to traffic, and Magistrate Ian Farrugia is investigating.
