Floriana Councillor Proposes Naming Football Pitch In Honour Of Mark Piscopo ‘Il-Lullu’

Floriana councillor James Aaron Ellul has announced he will file a motion to name the football pitch at the King George V gardens in honour of the late kit manager Mark Piscopo ‘Il-Lullu’.

“While the pitch serves several sporting functions, it is mainly used for football, the sport that Mark was so heavily involved in,” Ellul said.

“He wasn’t only loved by Floriana FC supporters but by everyone who was involved in football, even on a national level. It is fitting that this popular pitch be named after someone whose actions imbued so much love towards football in our children.”

A massive Floriana FC fan, Piscopo served as kit manager for the Greens, as well as for the Malta national football team. He passed away in 2022 at the age of 52 and the Malta football team honoured his memory with a moment of silence ahead of a game against San Marino.
