Gabriel Caruana Father Of Maltese Modern Art Passes Away At 89
Gabriel Caruana, sculptor, painter, activist and an artist venerated all over the world for his astounding talent and vision has passed away today at the age of 89.
Caruana is the father of Maltese art. He is also known for founding the Gabriel Caruana Foundation, a legacy of beauty and wonder which he himself established in order to help emerging artists, promote art and raise awareness both in Malta and internationally.
Gabriel, who was born in 1929, has paved the way for many local artists both here and overseas. He has achieved many accomplishments during his lifetime, and even exhibited works in the United States, Italy, Germany and the UK.
The father of local modern art will be sorely missed. His legacy lives on with the Gabriel Caruana Foundation.
