IN PHOTOS: Air Malta Ditches Free Baguette For Fancy New Paid-For Menu
Air Malta is ditching its much-maligned free baguette to introduce a brand new range of food, Lovin Malta has learnt.
The new menu is being launched alongside a series of fancy AF photos.
This comes after the airline received passenger feedback on the snacks and food Air Malta offered. The feedback showed passengers wanted a wider choice of food, and were willing to pay for it if it came along with a lower ticket price.
In September 2017 Air Malta had introduced the new Go-Smart fares which lowered fares across the board while setting the stage for a higher quality catering concept on board.
This revamped catering service will include tasty hot and cold snacks and drinks in line with the flight length. There will also be a dedicated kids’ section on the menu.
The rollout of this new product range Air Malta will come alongside overall lower ticket prices for Air Malta services.
The selection will include a broader choice of fresh food and and drink products, including local products as well as higher grade items like Prosecco from the famous Bocelli winery.
The food menu hasn’t been finalised yet, but judging from the pictures there will be a cold cuts board, a coronation chicken and cucumber baguette, and a ham and cheese toasted roll.
The buy-on-board concept that Air Malta will be introducing is standard for most European Airlines nowadays. Consumers had indicated that they prefer having a larger choice of what to eat and Air Malta has responded to their wishes.
Following the suggestions of local and foreign experts in the catering industry, the menu will also be changing seasonally.
Overall, there will be over 70 quality food and drink items available on board made with local ingredients.
Now that the Economy class menu has been changed, Air Malta will be looking to introduce a revamped Business class product offering an upgraded inflight menu and a total revamp of the passenger journey, making the business class experience an overall better value for money experience as well
