Junior College Gets Its First Gender Neutral Bathroom

A gender neutral toilet has been installed at the Junior College sixth form to act as a safe space for transgender students.

The bathroom, which will be situated just outside the Youth Hub, is the brainchild of the Junior College student council (KSJC) and was given the go-ahead by the sixth form itself.

The announcement drew a largely positive response on KSJC’s Facebook page, with many students praising the council for taking the interests of every student into account.

“This is a socially progressive council which takes care of everyone,” KSJC secretary general Gabriel Mallia commented.

It comes a year after the university’s student council introduced two gender neutral toilets on campus, a move with proved controversial amongst university students. Whilst many praised the council for giving a helping hand to transgender students, others cited fears of hygiene and harassment.
