A 51-year-old man is currently fighting for his life after a roof collapsed in Għajnsielem, Gozo.

The incident took place yesterday at 6.30pm in Triq Malta.

Initial investigations revealed the man was doing some maintenance when the roof gave way with the consequence of the man falling one storey.

A medical team and members from the Civil Protection Department were called to the scene to assist and an ambulance took the man to Gozo General Hospital for treatment.

The man was then transferred to Mater Dei due to the serious nature of his injuries.

Magistrate Simone Grech is leading an inquiry while police investigations are ongoing.
