Over 14,000 early voters headed over to the polling station yesterday to case their votes for the Local Council and European Parliament elections.
Data released by the Electoral Commission earlier today shows a slightly higher turnout for early voters in the Local Council elections compared to the European Parliament elections.
The early votes were cast on Saturday 1st June.
Out of 16,135 registered voters for early elections, 14,163 placed their votes in the council elections. Meanwhile, 14,041 out of 15,979 registered voters participated in the European Parliament elections.
Early voting was available to those who declared they would be abroad on the official voting day on Saturday 8th June, as well as residents of 35 old people’s homes.
Additional early voting opportunities are scheduled for Tuesday, for those on duty during the electoral process on Saturday, and Thursday for hospital patients.
