Flowers and candles were laid out at a moving vigil in memory of Sliema murder victim Sandra Ramirez yesterday evening.

Ramirez, who was 43 years old, was found dead with multiple stab wounds on Saturday morning after Fabian Eliuth Garcia handed himself in at the Sliema police station and informed the officers that he had killed his ex-partner.

Garcia was arraigned on Sunday afternoon and pleaded not guilty.

The vigil took place at Independence Park in Sliema, the same site where Paulina Dembska had been brutally murdered in 2022.

The vigil was attended by members of the Columbian community, Sliema Mayor John Pillow and Honorary Consul of Columbia to Malta Joseph Buhagiar.

“The murder of Sandra Ramirez has shocked many in our community and especially our Colombian friends and residents,” Pillow wrote on his Facebook page.
