An early morning storm has taken out Malta’s national emergency helpline, with an alternate number being provided until the system is reinstated.

The Ministry would like to warn that, due to the storm that occurred early this morning, the emergency number 112 is not working. The ministry is appealing to the public that, in the case of an emergency, to call the alternative number 25458200,” the Ministry for National Security said in a statement this morning.

“Work is currently being undertaken so that the system can function once again,” they continued.

It is unknown how long it will be until the 112 number is reinstated.
