Man Fighting For His Life After Small Van Toppled On Him Near Żabbar Nun Convent
A man is at risk of dying after a small van carrying rolls of artificial turf toppled and fell on him in Żabbar.
The man was in a passageway of a nun convent in Triq Il-Mina Ta’ Hompesch this morning when the van fell at around 10.30, the police told Lovin Malta.
The 45-year-old Sliema resident was tended to by a medical team before being rushed to Mater Dei by ambulance where his serious condition was confirmed.
Members of the Department of Civil Protection were also on site.
Other news reports suggest that the man was a volunteer, however this has not been independently confirmed.
Investigations by the police and the Occupational Health and Safety Authority are currently ongoing.
Maltese Roads Traffic Updates has warned people to avoid the road due to the severe incident.
