Marsaxlokk’s parish priest will be facing charges related to misappropriation of funds and money laundering.

Father Luke Seguna has since been placed on administrative leave with immediate effect by the Archdiocese of Malta while proceedings are underway. An administrator has been appointed to take his place.

It appears that the crimes are related to donations in the community.

The Archdiocese said it has offered its full cooperation to the authorities and will seek to establish whether long-standing policies related to donations have been followed by the parish priest.  However, they will not be making any further comments on the case.
