Lawyer and former policeman David Gatt has vehemently denied a report by Net News that he has been arrested and called in for police questioning.

“It’s total bullshit, I’ve been in my office since early this morning and I’ve contacted Net about it,” Gatt told Lovin Malta.

Net had reported that Gatt was arrested in connection with the murder of Daphne Caruana Galizia but it has since pulled down the article.

In 2017, Gatt was cleared of masterminding several armed robberies and bank heists, including the theft of over €1 million from an HSBC Balzan bank, two failed robberies on a cash van and a jeweller and the notorious 2010 foiled heist on the HSBC Qormi headquarters that ended in a police shootout.
