The Champ Is Back! Jake Vella Celebrates Hospital Discharge With Late Night Swim
A big chunk of Malta came together to wish one of its most inspirational kids a speedy recovery upon hearing the sadenning news that Jake Vella was back in hospital last week… but the young triathlete is back at home and training like the absolute champ he is.
Early on Thurdsay morning, the ROHHAD Association urged its followers to pray for Jake and his family, after the young Maltese boy had to be rushed to hospital yet again.
ROHHAD is a very rare syndrome affecting children, causing previously normal healthy children to gain weight and have breathing difficulties, as well as other problems. Jake is one of only a couple of dozens childrens on the whole planet to not have ROHHAD, but to also exhibit symptoms of ROHHAD NET, an even rarer strain of the already very rare genetic condition.
Jake’s story of resilience has been followed by millions of people around the world, and thousands came together last week to wish the young boy – who battles his medical condition by exercising tirelessly day in and day out – a speedy recovery.
On Friday, Jake happily announced to his thousands of Facebook friends and followers that he was back home. Within hours, he was back to exercising and training
Resilient as ever and a true champ, young Jake carried on, but it was a photo posted on Monday night that truly captured everyone’s hearts all over again.
“Back to 1.5 kilometre swimming sessions with my coach Marthese Fava at 8:20pm in the evening,” Vella said, sharing photos of himself in the pool
Within an hour of posting, the photo quickly amassed hundreds of likes, comments and shares, and how could it not? It looks like absolutely nothing can stop Malta’s most inspirational kid… and the whole island is defiintely still #TeamJake.
You go champ!
