Maltese record-breaking athlete has shared to social media his ”most incredible moment” after swimming with a pod of dolphins in Zanzibar.

”From the thousands of hours I’ve spent in the sea this has to be the most incredible moment,” the Olympian said.

Agius recently visited the picturesque island of Mnemba, in Zanzibar, and managed to see a pod of dolphins whilst training and on holiday, he told Lovin Malta.

Neil Agius represented Malta at the Athens 2004 Olympic Games, and is a world-record holder who mostly does long-distance freestyle events.

”Having the opportunity to swim with a pod of dolphins in their natural habitat and watch them care for their young was incredibly inspiring,” Agius expressed.

He was surprised at how the dolphins cared for their young and how playful they were.

It was certainly an unforgettable moment for the athlete.

”Excuse the wobbly filming, but I was trying to keep up, hold my breath for way too long and also enjoy the moment,” he finished saying.
