Janet Zahra Walker To Contest Local Council Elections Five Years After Pieta’ Wall Collapse

Janet Zahra Walker has announced she will be contesting the upcoming local council elections in June.

Walker will be contesting with the ADPD party for the Pieta’ Local Council.

On 13th June 2019, the wall of Zahra Walker’s apartment building adjacent to a construction site collapsed, forcing 14 families out onto the street.

Three years after the collapse, Walker’s family was finally able to return to their home.

After the incident, Janet became one of the most vocal from the residents affected and would speak out publicly about the frustration and pain those affected were going through.

In her candidate announcement, Zahra Walker listed several issues which she would address should she be elected including a safe passage for children going to school, more greenery in public and to ensure works on the public toilet in Pieta’ are finished.

“If you feel there needs to be a change, you can make a difference on 8th June,” Zahra Walker stated as she encouraged people to vote in the upcoming election.
