Joseph Muscat Could Secure A Landslide Win For Labour Party In European Elections, According To PL Poll
The Labour Party can win June’s European elections by a landslide if Joseph Muscat contested, according to an internal party poll.
The poll, seen by the Times of Malta, suggests that if the former Prime Minister were to contest June’s European elections, the Labour party would secure victory by 40,000 votes over the Nationalist Party.
The survey indicates that approximately 20,000 Labour voters who are currently abstaining or undecided would turn out to vote if Muscat were on the ballot, with the majority likely to support him.
Even without Muscat’s candidacy, the Labour Party is still projected to win the elections with a lead of approximately 27,000 votes. However, his potential return to politics would likely result in a significantly larger victory margin, potentially securing a fourth MEP seat for the party.
The poll, conducted earlier this month by prominent statistician and pollster Vince Marmarà, coincided with Muscat’s recent hints at a potential comeback to the political arena.
Depending on voter turnout, Muscat could garner approximately 100,000 first-count votes, surpassing all other Maltese MEP candidates by a significant margin.
Although these figures do not confirm Muscat’s candidacy, in January, Joseph Muscat revealed that he is not ruling out a possible comeback into politics, hinting at a possible European Parliament candidature. “I don’t exclude it like I do not exclude dying tonight,” he said, adding that he “cannot ignore the people”.
In fact, several individuals have openly celebrated Muscat’s potential return to politics, with survey figures echoing Labour Party voters’ wishes loud and clear.
