Nationalist MP Literally Calls ‘Bullshit’ On The Government In Heated Parliamentary Sitting

Parliament got heated yesterday as it discussed a motion calling for an independent investigation into the stories of assassinated journalist Daphne Caruana Galizia.

The motion was presented by Nationalist MP Chris Said, prompting several Labour MPs to say it was designed to embarrass PN leader Adrian Delia, the most recent target of Caruana Galizia. Said was a leadership contender but lost to Delia last September.

However, Delia voted in favour of the motion, claiming he had nothing to hide. He also urged Labour to support the motion to show the public that no stone would be left unturned in the search for Caruana Galizia’s killers.

During the sitting, Nationalist MP Edwin Vassallo uncharacteristically lashed out at government MPs, decrying their statements as “bullshit”. Speaker Anġlu Farrugia cautioned Vassallo to retract his comment but he later had to do the same with several Labour MPs who repeated the comment in disbelief.

Ultimately the motion was voted down by the government majority. Instead, an alternative motion was approved, which did not call for an investigation.

But the exchanges still made for a great video…
