Nationalist Party’s First Billboard Is Up, And It’s A Dig At Konrad Mizzi In His Own Backyard

The European Parliament and local council election campaign is officially up and running, with the Nationalist Party erecting its first billboard.

The PN’s billboard shows Tourism Minister Konrad Mizzi in a celebratory mood, with the words “Corruption is an annual tax of €725 million” and the tagline “A government that doesn’t care”.

This a reference to a recent study by the European Greens, with Mizzi’s face used because he has become synonymous with the Panama Papers.

It has been erected by the Ferries in Sliema which, coincidentally or otherwise, is a stone’s throw away from Mizzi’s own house, meaning the minister could well be in for a nice surprise en route to work tomorrow morning.

It is believed that other identical billboards will be erected across Malta.

Meanwhile, the Labour Party will officially kick off its campaign on Tuesday with the launch of its Annual General Conference. In fact, there will be a distinct electoral twist to this year’s General Conference proceedings, with the PL organising three political activities in Tarxien, Msida and Sannat instead of containing the event at the PL headquarters as it usually does.

Prime Minister Joseph Muscat will personally address all three events, as well as the closing event on Sunday at the PL headquarters, and indeed promotional billboards of the Conference appear to be theming it as ‘Joseph Muscat’.

The PL’s first mass meeting will be held on 1st May at Castille Square.
