Opposition Leader Pens ‘Unity’ Poem After Striking Compromise With Simon Busuttil
Opposition leader Adrian Delia has written a poem to describe how last night’s controversial compromise with his predecessor Simon Busuttil was all about maintaining unity within the PN.
The poem urges PN supporters to put their differences aside and join forces to fight government corruption and hatred.
Translated, the poem reads:
“Now is the moment of truth
Now is the hour of unity
This is the time to take the road towards a stronger party
We must now forget that which divides us
Instead we must seek that which unites us
We mustn’t strive for our personal interests but for the good of the party.
Because we are the party of righteousness
Because we are the party of truth
Because we are the party of democracy
We aren’t enemies of each other
We aren’t against individual people
But we are against deception
Against corruption
Against the way the government has captured the country’s institutions
Against hatred
Let’s do politics in a new way
Where we acknowledge both what is right and what is wrong
Where our interest is towards the common good and not towards individual politicians.
Let’s realise who we are
A Nationalist Party to be proud of
Because we would have returned the party to the people”
Adrian Delia with his predecessor Simon Busuttil
Delia was last night forced to make a U-turn and retract his demand for Simon Busuttil to quit the PN in the wake of the Egrant magisterial inquiry. Lovin Malta is reliably informed that Delia’s change of heart came after he realised that he didn’t have the numbers in either his parliamentary group or the PN’s executive committee to force his predecessor out. Several Nationalist supporters, including many who are supportive of Delia, had also voiced their concern at his decision.
