Watch: Emanuel Cuschieri Announces ONE Radio Cancelled His Show For Good After Almost 30 Years On Air
Veteran ONE Radio host Emanuel Cuschieri has announced that the PL’s party station has in all likelihood cancelled his political show for good, which means he won’t be on the ruling party’s radio waves for the first time in almost 30 years.
“Everything indicates that ONE Radio is now part of my past,” a clearly emotional Cuschieri said on his Facebook show, which he had launched after the PL media house decided not to include his show Linja Diretta on its summer schedule.
“It’s not my decision If it were up to me, I would continue giving my services to ONE Radio.”
Cuschieri pledged to name the people he is convinced were behind this decision sometime next week.
“I have no problem indicating who communicated this decision to me and who the people behind this decision were, people who think they can hide in a Valletta office and think I wouldn’t know they were behind this decision.”
“Next week will be crucial as declarations will be made that have been postponed for a number of weeks. I will remain at ONE Radio’s services but if they aren’t interested then I won’t stay asking them, especially since there are other means to get my message across nowadays.”
Besides his Facebook show, Cuschieri confirmed he intends to move his show to another radio station.
“I won’t distance myself from the PL principles and I will continue defending the PL and my friends in the PL,” he said. “The language won’t change but the place the show is broadcast from will probably change because that’s what someone else has decided.”
Last week, Cuschieri warned that certain people within the PL are acting disrespectful and are letting power go to their heads.
“If some people think they can impress us because they occupy a certain position, then they’re wrong,” he said. “One doesn’t earn the respect of people by holding a position but by showing them respect. Positions mean nothing and they come and go, and those with responsibility must keep this in mind or they could face huge disappointment.”
Reflecting on his time at ONE Radio, Cuschieri said he always did his best and never asked for financial compensation “as I always felt my service was a duty, seeing as I believe in the PL’s principles”.
