Watch: ‘I Have A Lot Of Thoughts’ – Joseph Muscat’s First Message Since Sitting And Gagging Order

Joseph Muscat has published his first official statement on social media following yesterday’s long day in court which ended with his assets being frozen and an order by the magistrate to not discuss his criminal case outside the court.
“I’d like to thank all the hundreds of people who showed their solidarity with me and my family in the last hours and days,” the former prime minister began in a two-minute video. Thanking in particular the people who showed up in Valletta yesterday for a “decent, civil, serene show of support”.
“I think we got to the point where we can prove that everyone can express themselves in a civil way, so I thank and congratulate everyone,” Muscat continued.
“I wish I could be here telling you about what happened yesterday in court, all the things that clearly happened, all the things that clearly didn’t happen, but the Court accepted the AG’s request for me to not be allowed to talk about this case,” Muscat added.
“I respect the court’s decision… I have a lot of thoughts about this request, from an AG in the European Union, that a person has their right of expression taken away from them… but I won’t do this, because I respect the court’s decision,” he continued. “With respect to democracy and the rule of law. Thank you.”
