Devis Mangia Cleared Of Sexual Harassment And Grooming, But Suspended Over Misconduct

Former National Football Team Coach Devis Mangia has been cleared of allegations made against him related to sexual harassment and grooming.
However, the Malta Football Association Safeguarding Board has found sufficient evidence to support the allegation of improper conduct while dealing with players.
“The Safeguarding Board of the Malta FA has today notified the decision in relation to claims that had been leveled against former national team coach Mangia,” the MFA said in a statement.
“The board, did not find sufficient evidence to support the allegation of sexual harassment, did not find sufficient evidence to support the allegation of grooming, but it did find sufficient evidence to support the allegation of improper conduct.”
The board has therefore decided that Mangia shall be temporarily suspended from participating in any football activity in Malta until he enrolls in a course on professional boundaries.
The course chosen needs to be approved by the MFA Safeguarding Board, and it must be completed within the window of six months.
“A motivated decision will be sent to the parties in due course. The decision may be appealed.”
However, the MFA did not specify or give further details about what kind of misconduct Mangia was engaging in.
Mangia had been relieved from his duties by the Association on 25th September 2022 and he subsequently resigned from his post on 7th November 2022.
