Malta Wins In Stunning Comeback Against Israel Amid Coaching Scandal
Malta’s national football team pulled together and scored an unlikely 2-1 victory over Israel amid a major scandal involving their now suspended coach.
Earlier that day, Malta Head Coach Devis Mangia was temporarily suspended following alleged sexual advances on at least one national football player.
It has sent shockwaves through the island’s sporting community, while his questionable past raises major questions.
The night didn’t begin well for Malta after the team went behind in the 32nd minute following a Bibars Nacho penalty.
It seemed that Malta was heading for a loss but everything turned on its head in an exhilarating few minutes.
Malta brought the score level on the 84ht minute following an Alex Satariano goal. Then just two minutes later, Ferdinando Apap brought Malta 2-1 up with a towering header.
The minnows held on for a well-deserved win amid some major claims against their suspended coach.
Malta’s Football Association is holding an executive board meeting today to determine their next step and the police are reportedly investigating a recording of Mangia’s advances.
