Malta’s First Female Boxing World Champion: Clara ‘Million Dollar’ Bezzina
Malta has its first female boxing world champion who smashed the World Boxing Union’s minimum weight semi-pro world title, according to boxing legend Scott Dixon.
“I’m overjoyed with the win after all the hard work and dedication I’ve put into this fight. I’m really looking forward to seeing where the next steps will take me,” Clara told Lovin Malta
Clara “Million Dollar” Bezzina achieved this impressive feat last month on 27th October at the BMX track in Pembroke.
“It was a very good learning fight against an experienced opponent who’s had over 12 professional fights. I started boxing a year and a half ago and this was my first semi-professional fight, so when I was told that I had the opportunity to fight for a world title I was super excited about it.”
“The fight was eight two-minute rounds, with a TKO stoppage in the fourth round. I’m extremely grateful for the team I have, namely Scott Dixon who is my coach and promoter and is always there to guide me, push me beyond my limits, and encourage me when things get hard.”
“Also my sponsor, Team Sport, Alunafi, and Caritipay that make sure I have everything that I need for my fights.”
The 26-year-old athlete was the co-main event with super Scott Dixon who won the Charles Salvador British bare-knuckle boxing championship which was Malta’s first bare-knuckle contest.
Dixon spoke to Lovin Malta back in 2022 when he took on Ludvic ‘The Buġibba Bomber’ Muscat in what he called his final-ever career fight.
It must be noted that Clara is not licensed under the Malta Boxing Association.
