Watch: Każin Tal-Imqarbin’s Luke Saydon Leads A Choir Of Hundreds At London Christmas Concert
Maltese theatre titan, Luke Saydon, has donned the cap of an international musical director yet again for Some Voices’ Christmas Crackers alternative carol concert.
Saydon had the honour of directing a choir of 450 singers last Wednesday 4th December, at the Hackney Church in London for the kick-off of the two-week long concert.
Some Voices is a UK-based pop choir organisation, celebrated for its unforgettable performances with an inclusive community of over a thousand members.
With an insanely packed venue that saw the entire floor and its balconies filled to the brim with excited attendees, Saydon and his talented choir delivered a flashy, electric and overall festive concert that had everyone singing joyfully.
“The choir has a very special place in my heart. I work with them on a weekly basis, really building a family,” Saydon told Lovin Malta “Because it brings together so many people – and getting to direct them is so lovely.”
Saydon’s seen immense success on his home turf over the years, establishing himself as a renowned playwright, composer, director and actor, especially since the release of the critically acclaimed “Il-Każin tal-Imqarbin,” which left audiences teary-eyed and begging for more.
It’s a no brainer that his talents would get international recognition, especially since he’s been going at it for years, with 2024 marking his ninth year flourishing in the UK’s music/queer scene.
“Having the opportunity to work with such brilliant organisations here is beautiful,” Saydon gleefully expressed, “I get to share the love of music, I get to be build communities and get to be unapologetically queer. So it’s work that gives me so much pride.”
With success in Malta and all around the UK, there’s no telling where his talents will land him next.
Congratulations to Luke for continuing to make Malta proud!
Where do you think he will wow audiences next?
