Watch: Thousands Attend Grand Valletta Festivities Celebrating 50 Years Of Malta As A Republic
Valletta’s Pjazza San Ġorġ was this weekend transformed into a glorious celebration of Malta’s 50-anniversary as a republic… and over the course of three days, more than 6,000 people experienced the awesome spectacle in person!
In the exact place where, 50 years ago, Malta was present to welcome its very first president after the country’s constitution changed for it to become a republic. To mark all of that, the aptly-named ‘L-Istorja, Aħna’ (History, Us), festivities came to a climax for Friday’s public holiday, but also Saturday and Sunday.

But the celebrations marked way more than 50 years, with the show highlighting some of the biggest moments in our history, creating a unique audio-visual show that truly was something to behold.
With narration by actress Cassandra Spiteri, the audience (both live and on TV) went through an adventure like no other… and boy did it close off with a bang!
