Norman Lowell Reported To Police For Hate Speech After Promoting Eugenics For Babies With Disabilities
The Commission for the Rights of Persons with Disability has reported Norman Lowell to the police and the Broadcasting Authority for hate speech after the Imperium Europa leader advocated eugenics during a TV interview.
“The CRPD holds that the promotion of eugenics is tantamount to hate speech,” a spokesperson for the CRPD told Lovin Malta. “To this end, it has lodged reports both to the Broadcasting Authority (on 11th April) and the police (on 12th April).”
During his interview on F-Living, Lowell said that “horribly mentally defective babies should be aborted or granted a benign mercy killing”.
“The best Brits, from Neville Chamberlain and Winston Churchill to Bernard Shaw, all formed part of a eugenics society, because they wanted the uplifting of the quality of their people,” he said. “Does anyone enjoy going to a village which is full of village idiots? Does anyone want handicapped people? No one wants them.”
A recent survey by MaltaToday shows that Imperium Europa has become the country’s third most popular party. The survey shows that 1.2% of voters plan to vote or Lowell’s party this month, a better result than both PD (0.8%) and AD (1%) and only two percentage points behind incumbent PN MEP Francis Zammit Dimech.
