Over €23,000 Raised For Andrea ‘Batman’ Calleja After Only A Few Hours Of Crowdfunding
The €23,000 mark has already been surpassed in a crowdfunding effort by friends and relatives of injured athlete Andrea Calleja who suffered a spinal injury during a recent obstacle race.
After a crowdfunding appeal by his loved ones on Zaar.com, donations have been flowing into the campaign page – which is where you can donate if you have the means to do so.
A Facebook page has also been opened to promote this important appeal.
“So why do we need to fundraise for Andrea?
“Andrea’s spinal cord has been severely injured at the base of his neck. This type of injury results in complete paralysis, however, in Andreas case, he has slowly managed to start breathing alone and just completed his first 24 hours without the help of a ventilator,” his supporters shared.
“He also gained movement of his right arm which has enabled him to hold a spoon and feed himself… I have been told that even as a very young child, he hated to be fed so this is a true blessing!”
“In order for Andrea to gain some independence and to be able to go home, he needs movement of both arms.”
Will you contribute to help Andrea regain his mobility?
