A bouncer has been arrested at the Malta International Airport in connection with a brutal beating in Paceville, ONE News has reported.

According to ONE, the bouncer was trying to catch a flight back to his home country but was recognised by RIU officers who were stationed at the airport.

He was promptly arrested and taken to the St Julian’s police station for further investigations.

The man was part of a group of bouncers who delivered a brutal beating to 25-year-old Sudanese national Ahmed Albarjo on New Year’s Eve.

Albarjo told Lovin Malta that he had initially been assaulted by two bouncers after questioning why he had been denied entry into the Havana nightclub.

He reported the men to a group of police officers in the vicinity but was left frustrated by their insistence that he filed a report at the police station and headed back to the nightclub to confront them himself.

He said that the bouncers pushed him as he approached them and he fell to the floor, shattering a glass bottle. He said he picked up a piece of glass and threw it in self-defence and was promptly beaten senseless.

According to ONE, the bouncer who has been arrested is the one who can be seen in the footage beating up Albarjo with a baton and kicking him while he lay on the ground.
