A part of a construction site within the Kordin area in Paola collapsed this morning.

Police told Lovin Malta that the incident occurred at around 10am, with the site being located close to the Civil Protection Department’s base in Kordin.

Photos sent to Lovin Malta show the part of the construction site which collapsed. The onlooker who sent the photos also said that he saw people working on top of the wall this morning, before the collapse.

It has not yet been confirmed whether any workers got trapped under the collapsed building.

Members of the CPD and Police are currently on site, along with a medical team and ambulances for any required medical assistance.

Drivers are also being advised to avoid the area, with the Malta Traffic Updates App issuing a warning.

Update: Four workers were recovered from the rubble and transported to Mater Dei Hospital for treatment. The nature of their injuries is still unknown.
