Petition Calling For Public Inquiry Into JeanPaul Sofia’s Death Reaches Almost 10,000 Signatures In Two Days
A recently launched petition calling for a public inquiry into JeanPaul Sofia’s death has garnered almost 10,000 signatures within mere days.
The petition, which was launched by Sofia’s mother Isabelle Bonnici, first surfaced on 8th July, shortly after a debate was held in Parliament on whether a public inquiry should be opened.
Yesterday, Sofia’s mother, who also manages the Facebook page ‘Għal Jean Paul’ and has been extremely vocal in making sure she achieves justice for her son, thanked supporters for showing up in thousands for her and her son.
“I send a massive hug in my son’s name and on behalf of all those that love him greatly,” Isabelle said.
She encouraged people to continue signing the petition to ensure Malta has better safety features on work places and justice for all.
“As a mother who lost her only son at Ta’ Kordin Tragedy, I still have questions that only a public inquiry will answer,” Sofia’s mother wrote in the petition description.
“I would like to be able to ask questions and play an active role in the inquiry. In Malta, it is only through a public inquiry that I can do this.”
At the time of writing, the petition stands at 9,903 signatures, with over 3,000 signatures registered only this morning.
The petition can be found and signed here.
JeanPaul Sofia was 20-years-old when he was found dead and buried in the rubble, following the collapse of a building on a construction site near Kordin. Since then, calls for justice have not ceased.
