PHOTOS: Up Close And Personal With A Flamingo That Was Just Shot (With A Camera) In Malta

A grey flamingo has gone slightly off course and landed on the sandy coast of Malta. In an exciting development to those close by, the large wading bird has thankfully only been shot by a camera.
Snapped by Nigel Azzopardi, the flamingo stopped by our shores for a quick rest on its migration route, which appears to be unseasonably early as the birds usually make their journey later in the summer.
This is the second sighting of the beautiful birds in less than four days on our island.
Last week one Maltese photographer, Marcus Camilleri, was able to capture some shots of an entire flock of flamingos casually gliding past a cabin cruiser.
“Two cabin cruisers changed route to take a closer view of the flock which caused some disturbance to the birds, yet it worked in my favour as the birds changed their course from a south-west to a more southerly one and thus came closer to shore,” Camilleri said. “That’s when I started filming.”
