Public Accounts Committee Summons Incarcerated Yorgen Fenech To Give Testimony On Electrogas Contract

Yorgen Fenech has been summoned to testify before the Public Accounts Committee in the Auditor General’s investigation of a controversial contract awarded by Enemalta to Electrogas.
Fenech was an Electrogas director, who resigned from his position after his arrest in connection to the murder of Daphne Caruana Galizia. He remains a company shareholder.
Fenech was allegedly implicated in the Caruana Galizia’s assassination, and has more recently been in the news when leaked whatsapp messages revealed an alleged affair with MP Rosianne Cutajar.
The PAC Chairman Darren Carabott put forward a request for Fenech to testify in its next sitting – to which there were no objections. PAC investigations of the Electrogas project have taken place off and on for several years.
Fenech is currently being held at the Corradino Correctional Facility.
It remains to be seen if he will appear before the committee or seek to reject the summons – following the example of his former colleague, Keith Schembri.
