Repubblika Head Says Godfrey Leone Ganado Forced Out Of NGO And Blocked From His Page
Repubblika head Robert Aquilina has disassociated himself from Godfrey Leone Ganado and criticised him for his latest comment about Robert Abela, Joseph Muscat and their families.
Leone Ganado is facing a police investigation into hate speech following a complaint by PL MEP candidate Daniel Attard, who described the commenter as a “member of the extremist clique Repubblika.”
However, Aquilina told Lovin Malta that Leone Ganado hasn’t been a Repubblika member since 2021.
Aquilina said that after Leone Ganado called then TVM head of news Norma Saliba a “political prostitute”, he informed him that he was going to be expelled from Repubblika. Leone Ganado ended up resigning voluntarily.
A recent Facebook post by Aquilina calling out Robert Abela and Joseph Muscat for their criticism of magistrate Gabriella Vella attracted Leone Ganado’s attention.
“God willing, the unexplained wealth they built on our backs turns to dust and buries them and their families in a pit of stinking manure,” he commented.
He followed it up by saying “when it comes to this trash, you need to call a spade by spade, and you need a spade to pick up this manure.”
Aquilina has now deleted the comment and blocked Leone Ganado from his Facebook page.
“I publicly disassociate myself from this comment and unreservedly condemn this unacceptable behaviour,” he said. “Families, particularly children, should never be in the line of fire of criticism or insults. This isn’t, and will never be, my style.”
“I urge people to exercise restraint when commenting publicly and to limit their content to facts and their opinions on thee facts, without personally attacking anyone with insults, threats or some other kind of hatred.”
