‘Solidarity With The Dallis’: Rosianne Cutajar Calls Out Court’s ‘Cruelty’ After Patrick Dalli Loses It During Son’s Case
Rosianne Cutajar has issued a statement of solidarity with “the Dalli family and everyone who is a victim of injustice” after a court sitting involving a Dalli son saw the father, Patrick Dalli, scream insults inside a courtroom.
“I’m not going to comment on what happened in court today, but one needs to look at this from a human aspect and understand the broken heart and desperation of a father in the face of injustice,” Cutajar said today.
“What do we gain as a country if we throw a person into prison over an isolated case that goes back a decade and is clearly a result of teenage silliness? This isn’t rehabilitative justice, but punitive and cruel.”
Cutajar’s statements come after Patrick Dalli, husband to EU Commissioner Helena Dalli, began screaming at a judge in court after the judge ruled that a statement Jean Marc Dalli had given to police after he was caught giving six ecstasy pills to another person at a party was admissible, even though Dalli’s lawyer was not present at the time.
Dalli’s lawyers had hoped the court would rule that his statements given to the police were inadmissable; however, since he had spoken to his lawyer before interrogation and having a lawyer by your side wasn’t law at the time, the court made its ruling.
This led to Patrick Dalli calling Chief Justice Mark Chetcuti corrupt.
“You should be ashamed of yourself!” Dalli said in packed courtroom.
“Mafia! Mafia! Corruption, Freemasonry and Opus Dei!”
