An 83-year-old woman from St. Julian’s is at risk of dying after slipping into the sea at Baħar Iċ-Ċagħaq.

The incident happened at around 10am this morning, when waves caused the elderly woman to slip while entering the sea. As a result, she reportedly hit her head and swallowed a substantial amount of water.

People who happened to be at the bay at the time attempted to give the woman first assistance, with a medical team arriving shortly after. She was shortly rushed to Mater Dei Hospital, where she was certified to be suffering from serious injuries.

Police investigations into the case are still underway.
