Storm Floods Għajnsielem And Submerges Cars As Mayor Urges Public To Avoid Certain Roads
Għajnsielem was badly hit by this morning’s storm, with some streets flooded and cars submerged.
Posting photos of the state of the streets and a playground, the Gozitan town’s mayor Kevin Cauchi urged people to avoid passing through Pjazza tad-Dehra, Triq Wied Rghajjes and Triq Hamri this morning.
Għajnsielem’s local council said the cleanup of the area will commence as soon as the situation returns to normal, thanking their worker Frankie Saliba for his coordination efforts this morning, along with the CPD and the police.
The Facebook weather page Maltese Islands Weather said 99.1m of rain fell over Għajnsielem in less than an hour during this morning’s storm.
