Heavy winds have caused one of the main roads in Mellieħa to be covered in sand, with motorists being officially advised to proceed with caution by the Malta police force this morning.

The gusts have poured sand from the nearby beach at Għadira all over Triq il-Marfa, Mellieħa.

The sand itself has built among in the middle of the road, as well as among nearby bushes and shrubs. The pavements have been partially covered as well.

While the roads have not been blocked off and are still accessible to the public, it would be wise to drive slowly and be extra vigilant if heading southbound through that route today.
