The identity of the two private beach vendors plaguing Comino’s shoreline has been revealed – and they are none other than an associate of Joseph Portelli and a labour MEP’s brother.

Daniel Refalo, the son of Alfred Refalo, is an associate of construction magnate Joseph Portelli, who continues to display his endless power in Malta.

Mark Cutajar, on the other hand, is the brother of Labour MEP Josianne Cutajar, currently representing Malta at the European Union.

First reported by The Shift News, Lovin Malta was also informed of the relationship between the private beach vendor and Portelli.

The takeover of Comino’s shoreline once again peaked the national interest of late with things coming to a head last weekend when activists from Moviment Graffitti delivered an action that went viral.

Activists headed to Comino in the early hours of the morning, to make their voices heard about the yearly persisting issue, chanting “Il-baħar, ix-xatt, Kemmuna ta’ kullħadd”.

The action seems to have had quite the impact, with politicians even coming out afterwards to comment about the matter.

Just yesterday, Tourism Minister Clayton Bartolo said that it was a coincidence that activists headed to Comino on the same day that MTA officials were set to go and deal with the persisting issue.

Malta is still eagerly watching on to see what action the government will be taking to put issues related to Comino’s Blue Lagoon to rest once and for all.
