Ta’ Xbiex Restaurant Hopes To Donate Food Festival Proceedings To Late Bus Driver’s Family
A Ta’ Xbiex restaurant is hoping to donate part of their proceedings from their stand at the recent Food Festival to the family of a local bus driver who died suddenly.
Tandoori Bites, which specialises in traditional Pakistani, Indian and regional food, wanted to send a message to the family of the late Marvin Belmonte Briones and show support after his death.
“We were very saddened by the news that Mr. Marvin Belmonte Briones passed away on 11 July 2022. Marvin had been working as a bus driver with Malta Public Transport. He had a wonderful personality. We would like to offer our deepest and most sincere condolences to his family and friends,” the restaurant said in a post.
“In honour of such a wonderful person whose life was cut short before his time, we have decided to help and support his family by contributing part of our profit (earned from Food Festival) in the deceased family’s grief time. If anyone would like to help please contact us.”
Social media had been flooded with comments from both the local as well as international community after the sudden death of Belmonte Briones.
“We are very saddened by the news that our colleague Marvin Belmonte Briones passed away this morning,” bus operator Tallinja said in a statement.
It is understood that the bus was parked at the time of his death, and not while he was on duty.
