There Have Been 11 Motorcycle Accidents Per Week In Malta Since The Start Of 2018
While tragic traffic accidents regularly feature in the news, the total number of collisions often goes unnoticed. Parliamentary figures have now revealed that since the start of 2018 there have been roughly 11 motorcycle accidents every week.
That’s a total of 779 motorcycle accidents by the end of May 2019, averaging at just under two accidents every single day.
The number of motorcycle accidents per month has remained relatively steady, but July 2018 was an exceptionally bad month, with 68 recorded accidents.
The figures, which were tabled by Home Affairs Minister Michael Farrugia after a question from MP Godfrey Farrugia, also reveal some statistics when it comes to cyclists.
While the number of motorcycle accidents falls just shy 800, the number of cyclists involved in collisions is surprisingly low, with only 47 taking place since the start of 2018.
