Upcoming Classic Grand Prix Risks ‘Serious Danger’ To Mtarfa, Mdina And Rabat Residents, Councils Warn

The Mtarfa, Rabat and Mdina local councils have strongly come out to oppose the upcoming Mdina Grand Prix, warning of it negatively impacting residents.
The local councils declared they’re against the event happening within the boundaries of the localities, as planned between 13th and 16th October, organised by Malta Classic.
“In principle, we have nothing against the activity itself or the organisers, but the councils unanimously agreed in view of the severe inconvenience for the residents and the serious danger resulting from the great congestion that is created during the event,” it said in a statement.
“It should take place elsewhere, but certainly not in Mtarfa, Rabat and Mdina.”
“The local councils are appealing to the authorities concerned to take any necessary action to find an alternative place for this activity,” it said.
“If not, the three councils reserve every right to take further steps to safeguard the interests and safety of their residents.”
The Mdina Grand Prix welcomes car enthusiasts of all ages, to showcase and celebrate some of the world’s most iconic cars. However, organisers and local councils had previously butted heads over the show in past years.
