Watch: Army Helicopter Helps Rescue Dutch Man Injured At Għajn Tuffieħa Cliffs
A rescue operation using an army helicopter took place yesterday late afternoon in Għajn Tuffieħa after a Dutch man tripped and fell in the area.
Footage sent to Lovin Malta shows the rescue operation taking place, as onlookers on the beach of Għajn Tuffieħa watched on.
Police confirmed with Lovin Malta that a helicopter was used because the man was situated in an inaccessible place.
“Yesterday afternoon, the Armed Forces of Malta assisted the Civil Protection Department with the rescue of a person who was injured under the cliffs in the area of Għajn Tuffieħa,” AFM said in a press statement.
“The AFM dispatched the MELITA 2 Search and Rescue Vessel and AW139 helicopter to the location, where the casualty was winched to higher ground for further medical assistance.”
The man’s condition is unknown however he was not at risk of dying at the time of rescue.
